Lens files are utilized to immediately correct for changes in the optical path such as the use of a range extender, as well as changes between different lenses. The lens file can also be programmed to make corrections for the glass of the teleprompter mirror. | | Perfect Match between Studio and Portable Cameras The portable and studio cameras use the same CCD, same analog and digital video processing, same optical filters, and in most cases, the same PC boards, providing an unparallel similarity in performance and function between the two camera types.Optical Axis Adjustment Both the studio and now the portable camera include a mechanism to allow precise alignment of the CCD block to the optical axis of the zoom lens. With the high resolving power of the HD sensors, optical errors become much easier to notice in the image. By adjusting for perfect optical axis alignment, the errors are minimized even when long telephoto lenses are used.Application of Standard 2/3-inch Lenses The camera incorporates the HDTV lens mount (BTA-S-1005B type) as standard. But the Ikegami 2/3-inch lens mount can be specified as a factory order option to use lenses from conventional NTSC Ikegami HK series cameras such as HK-388/377/366/355, etc. |
Commitment to Eas of Use through Meticulous Attention to Detail |
Low Center of Gravity Both the studio and portable camera are compact with low center-of-gravity. Especially for the portable camera there is excellent balance when operated on the shoulder. Regarding the 7 -inch viewfinder for HDK- 790D, the position is lower and closer to the optical axis of the camera head.Rotating Camera Cable Connection The SMPTE standard fibet camera cable connector is provided with a pivoting mount on both the portable and the studio camera heads. This permits a natural bend to the cable, even for example, when the portable camera is placed on the ground.Return Switch A Return select switch is located on the handle grip of the portable camera to control the selection when the camera is held off the shoulder, such as on the hip for low angle shots.High Performance Viewfinders The high definition 7-inch viewfinder attaches to the camera with a mechanism allowing easy panning and tilting for the viewfinder. As the height of the mechanism is changed to permit more tilt range, the front to rear position remains unchanged, minimizing the effect to the overall camera balance. The panning mechanism has a center detent position and also can | | be locked in any position. Cable connection between camera and the 7-inch viewfinder is integrated into the pan and tilt mechanism and fully protected against damage. For the portable camera there is a choice of three viewfinders. A 2-inch 16:9 high definition viewfinder is used for portable application, providing an enlarged viewing as compared to the traditional1.5-inch viewfinder . A 5-inch and the studio standard 7-inch high definition viewfinders can be used with the portable for tripod mounted applications.Ease of Focus for the Camera Operator Equipped with a high frequency compensation circuit, the resolution of return video is greatly improved. The resulting VF Detail for both camera video and return video makes it much easier for the cameraman to find the optimum focus position.Level Control for Intercom The sound level of Intercom and Program can be switched to controls on the front of the portable camera for easy adjustment when the camera is on the shoulder or switched to the rear of the camera when the camera is on the tripod.On-line Diagnostics An on-line Diagnostic System monitors a range of circuits including video, control, fiber optic transmission, pulse and power supply. |

High Performance Digital CCU |
High-end HDTV and NTSC Camera Using a down converter incorporated in the CCU as standard, the HDK- 7900/790 can be operated as a high-end NTSC studio camera. A high sampling frequency of 28.64MHz achieves a maximum resolution of 900TV lines in the NTSC format.Digital Detail Enhancement Operating in the digital domain, the DTL system provides 3-channel enhancement for uniform sharpness of all colors. Included are conventional as well as new digital functions, not possible in analog DTL systems.Diagonal DTL Diagonal DTL derives an edge signal from the diagonal components of the video signal to enhance resolution. Not only horizontal and vertical edges are influenced by the detail signal, but also diagonal edges.Skin DTL Skin DTL softens the facial complexions of the talent while retaining the detail in the rest of the scene. The AHD (Auto Hue Detect) function facilitates Skin DTL adjustment to select a desired skin tone at the mere touch of a switch.DTL Boost frequency The center frequency of the horizontal detail can be shifted from 13MHz to 24MHz (2.SMHz to SMHz for NTSC) to optimize the edge enhancement for scene content. The HDK-790D/79D camera includes three separate digital DTL circuits. For stand-alone operation, the DTL of the camera will provide the full enhancement of the HDTV output from the camera. When attached to the CCU, the camera DTL system provides detail enhancement for the viewfinder, but only frequency correction for the main video, relying on the CCU to provide full and separate enhancement for the HDTV and NTSC outputs. With separate DTL systems, the type and amount of compensation can be optimized for the different requirements of HDTV and NTSC.Fun Serial Digital Signal Interface Three HD SDl outputs and 2 channel return HD SDI inputs are provided as standard. D-1 component serial digital signal and D-2 composite serial digital signal outputs and return video inputs are available for NTSC, and either one can be selected by internal switches.Converter Functions Both down converter and up converter (for return) functions are incorporated to provide compatibility with either HDTV and NTSC systems; as well as simultaneous interfacing with both systems.Aspect Ratio Conversion The HD outputs are always in 16:9 aspect ratio, but the down converted output can be either 16:9 or 4:3. Three modes are available for the 480i (NTSC) outputs: | | Side panel: | 4:3 output with left and right sides of 16:9 image cut off | Squeeze: | 16:9 output same as HD image (will appear squeezed if viewed on 4:3 monitor) | Letterbox: | 4:3 output with full 16:9 image and black on top and bottom
|
There is a fixed timing relationship between the HD output and NTSC output which is approximately 42H (NTSC rate).Return and Teleprompter Video The CCU transmits an HD Return video signal to the camera's HD viewfinder. Also, two NTSC Q-TV video signals are sent to the camera for teleprompter and external monitoring purposes.Component Serial Digital Transmission A hybrid fiber / copper camera cable is used between CCU and camera head. Two single mode fibers are used for serial digital transmission in accordance with SMPTE 292M. Copper cores are used for power and power sensing. The cable conforms to SMPTE 311M and its connectors conform to SMPTE 304M. Signals and power are transmitted up to 3,000m(10,000 feet) for the HDK-79D and 2,000m(6,600 feet) for the HDK- 790D, utilizing 9.2mm(3/8") diameter camera cable. With consideration of the optical loss in both the fiber cable and the connectors, the maximum number of cable pieces used in a cable run from CCU to camera should not exceed twelve(12).External Genlock Signal The CCU accepts either NTSC black burst or HD sync external genlock signals. The HD sync can be 59.94 or 60Hz.Control Panel System The microprocessor control system for the HDK- 7900/790 features high speed direct access panels which can be configured to best meet the customer's I requirements. A typical control configuration consists of one OCP Operation Control Panel for each camera and a single MCP Maintenance Control Panel shared by a system of cameras (up to 40 cameras). The OCP-790 is available in joystick and rotary versions. It provides primary operating control, and includes new facilities such as variable control for skin detail and master gamma. The MCP-790 compliments the OCP with maintenance and secondary operating control.Snap Shot Files with Memory Card The "total look" of the camera can be captured by the Snap Shot File and stored on a Memory Card. The Memory Card provides a very secure long term means to restore camera set up. The Memory Card plugs into the MCP and has a capacity for 20 Snap Shoj Files. In addition, up to 240 Scene Files can be stored on a single Memory Card. |
